Miley Cyrus is famous for the role of Miley Stewart or Hanna Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom Hanna Montana.  According to The Daily Telegraph, the sitcom became an instant hit and elevated Cyrus to the teen idol status.  It became one of the highest rated series on basic cable.  The success of the series led to the released of the Hanna Montana: The Movie last 2009.  It is the second Disney Channel series to have a movie for Walt Disney Pictures.  The movie was about how Hanna Montana's popularity taking over Miley Stewart's life.  It reached number one at the box office however movie critics gave moderately mixed reviews.
